Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha

Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha (2021) 갯마을 차차차
Directed by Yoo Je-won, starring Shin Min-a and Kim Seon-ho.

Watched 16 - 23 October 2022 — 16 episodes (DRAMACOOL)

*Finished this show and hadn’t expected the last two episodes to be so emotional, with Chief Hong’s (Kim Seon-ho) secret being revealed and the death of granny Gam-ri. I cried a lot! I love Kim Seon-ho’s character so much, as well as the healing journey he makes. Also love how Shin Min-a supports him and stands by his side. They have great chemistry.
*More than one happy couple. Also Gong Min-jeung as Shin Min-a’s friend/assistant and Kang Hyung-suk as the cop get their happy ending. They are so cute together.
*I’m glad Lee Sang Yi as the director ended up with the writer. I loved his character as well and felt sad for him when Shin Min-a didn’t reciprocate his feelings.
*Before the big reveal of Kim Seon-ho’s secret past, and him and Shin Min-a already having confessed their feelings for one another, there was a small lull in the series. I thought there were just too many lovey-dovey and cutesy moments between the lovers. Fortunately a dramatic turn happened and it drove the lovers temporarily apart.
*The children actors are so cute and also play very well.
*Love the OST!
*Overall a very heartwarming drama with well-written characters. I will miss them dearly. The performances are great, especially Kim Seon-ho is very good and gives a nuanced performance. It’s such a big difference to see him as a carefree soul with a happy-go-lucky attitude helping out others, while the hidden side of his character is struggling with a deep-rooted pain and guilt. He conveys his feelings of hurt and loneliness really well and you want to comfort him and tell him he’s not to blame. I also thought he became more attractive with each episode. I had initially postponed watching this show because of his boyish looks but after seeing him and liking him in the previously watched You Drive Me Crazy! I decided to prioritise this and I’m so happy I did.
