Currently Watching: Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo

While taking a break from Go Ahead, I chose the popular drama Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo to watch and was confident I was going to like it. I've watched 5 episodes so far and indeed, I'm having so much fun with it. Lee Sung-kyoung (seen her in It’s Okay, That’s Love and Call It Love and also in a guest role in Doctor Slump) plays a weightlifter pursuing her dream of winning the gold medal and finding romance for the first time in her life. Lee Sung-kyoung is really funny and has such an expressive face. The way she moves and runs is a bit overdone and she's too loud at times, but overall Kim Bok-joo is a very likeable and quirky character. And she looks great! I'm loving the colour palette of this show, with the sweet and saturated colours!

Lee Sung-kyoung has great chemistry with the male lead Nam Joo-hyuk (as Jung Joon-hyung — seen the actor before in The Light in Your Eyes). I read online that the actors dated after the show had ended but broke up a few months later. I hadn't expected to enjoy the romance so much but our OTP is very cute together and I love their shared scenes. I was laughing out loud when Kim Bok-joo's lie about being a cellist is found out by Joon-hyung when she runs into him at the obesity clinic of his brother, the doctor Jung Jae-yi (played by Lee Jae-yoon — seen him in Ghost, Another Miss Oh and Mother). Also the scene where Bok-joo makes up her cello major in Jae-yi's consultation room is very funny. Her antics are a joy to behold. (Okay, the doctor/patient relationship is highly questionable but I'll just go with it because it's harmless and Jae-yi is also cute and not creepy.)

Cannot wait to continue and expect to finish this series before the month is over!
