Our Blues (2022)
Watched 17 - 24 June 2022 — 20 episodes (DRAMACOOL)
*Love this slice-of-life series and the melancholy and sadness that permeates it. It’s literally a breath of fresh air after the three episodes I watched of Descendants of the Sun. There was little in these episodes of Descendants that was believable or rang true, but Our Blues is the opposite. The characters are so well drawn and well portrayed, the story is well written and believable, and the performances are great.
*I love all the different characters and stories and how they are connected, reminding me of the fact that we all have our own stories, how insignificant they may be, and how our stories are intertwined with those of the people we are linked to through kinship or friendship.
*Love the OST! It’s so good and fitting.
*Also great production values and beautiful cinematography and images of the island.
*I think I was most invested in the story of Shin Min-a and Lee Byung-hun, though his character is not always very likeable.
*Also loved Choi Young-jun as Ho-sik, the father of the teenage pregnant girl. His character was likeable and he was also handsome and it was a petty he didn’t have a romantic subplot. Would like to see more of this actor.
*Love this close-knit community and how all of their stories affected me emotionally. I’m always a bit afraid the writers might ruin the ending but I needn’t have worried as it is very satisfying. It was uplifting and I loved how they brought all the characters together in a natural way (for a sporting event).
*Needless to say, I cried a lot!
*I was really sad it was over. I would have loved to see more episodes.
*There is one thing we must remember in our lifetime. We weren’t born into this world to suffer or feel miserable. We were born to be happy.
