*Finished this show sooner than I had expected. I enjoyed it — mainly because I like Lee Joon-gi and Moon Chae-won together — but overall the series is a bit lackluster. (Glad somebody noticed the chemistry between Lee Joon-gi and Moon Chae-won and cast them together a few years later in Flower of Evil).
*Show never follows through on the personal storylines of the lead characters. There's also no character development, and because of this I didn't feel any emotional attachment to the lead players. I did feel a bit sorry for team leader Son Hyun-joo, whose wife gets killed by a serial killer. Kim Won-hae, one of my fave supporting actors, plays the killer, but I didn't find him that scary because I mostly see him in likeable roles.
*My fave episode is the most emotional one, episode 10 with the children's kidnapping case. I got emotional and teary-eyed with the reunion scene between parents and children, filmed in slow motion. I didn't like that there was a new case mid-episode and had preferred this case to be an episode by itself (some cases go over into the next episode rather than being confined to one episode), because it was so emotionally charged. I felt for the kidnapped kid who became an unwilling accomplice but was every bit a victim himself, just like the other kids. I also liked that Lee Joon-gi and Moon Chae-won took care of the team leader's son and went out for pizza, like a little family. Lee Joon-gi always has nice rapport with children.
*In episode 14 we get a plot development relating to the lead characters, with Lee Joon-gi being accused of murder. But seriously .... it's such a missed opportunity not to deepen the relationship between Lee Joon-gi and Moon Chae-won because of their shared past. In this episode they don't even really talk to each other about the case, just stand next to each other and comment on the beautiful view. I was very disappointed how they handled and finished the long-awaited Nadeul River case. It just felt like any other case. Also, Moon Chae-won is seriously bland, and her role is much smaller than those of the other two female team members.
*Lee Joon-gi shows some good acting chops in the scene where he's being interrogated by the team leader about his brother.
*I was rolling my eyes with some of the dialogue. Bit annoying how the team members express their thoughts about cases to their colleagues, thinking out loud like they are quoting something out of a text book, and saying stupid things like "What we must do right now is finding a suspect. A wandering suspect is dangerous." (ep.17) Duh! The team also comes across as incompetent at times.
*In episode 18 they finally dedicate time to Moon Chae-won, who has been sidelined all the time, but it never amounts to anything. Poor Chae-won!
*At least Lee Joon-gi looks great in his suits and white shirts.
*From the other team members I liked the team leader best. I wouldn't mind seeing more of Son Hyun-joo's work.
