With Dramacool shut down, I thought there was no way for me to watch the second season of The Fiery Priest (2024). Turns out that there are some Dramacool clones available so I'm making sure to catch this show before the clone sites will disappear or the videos stop working.
I had already read some unfavourable comments on this second season but there are also enough drama fans who like/love this so I'm giving it a try. I'm a great fan of the first season and I love the characters. Yet already early on in the first episode there is broad humour on full display and I was a bit turned off. But I kept watching and the episode improved. I've seen five episodes now and at times the humour is still too much. Especially Kim Sung-kyun as Goo Dae-young is laying it on too thick.
But seriously ... just watching Kim Nam-gil as Father Michael Kim in his priest attire, his long black coat flapping behind him, is enough incentive for me to continue watching this series. I love the way he fights physically and how he cannot stand injustice and wants to defeat the bad guys. Also his interactions with Lee Ha-nee as Park Kyung-sun are still fun. I love their bond and how he confides in her and how she's the only person to know about his health situation. It's clear we shouldn't take things too seriously and the cast obviously had a lot of fun while filming this, so I'll try not to cringe when the humour gets over the top. To be continued!
