What Happens to My Family (2014): started watching 1 May 2024 (26/53 episodes)
I started this family soap-opera already in May but have no desire to finish it any time soon. It's not really binge-worthy, though I enjoy it well enough to have reached the midway mark. The story of a widower (Yoo Dong-geun) — a loving and doting father to his three adult children but having enough of his children's selfish behaviour — is at times oddly compelling. It's getting increasingly interesting now the father has decided to take legal action against his children. Yet, the thing I'm mostly invested in is the romantic relationship between Kim Sang-kyung and Kim Hyun-joo. Still waiting for them to get together. He has already fallen for her, and hard! By the way, I really hate Yoon Park as the oldest son, and his wife is just the most stupid character ever. She has no mind of her own (something Yoon Park has commented on as well) and she's sooooo annoying. So, I'm taking my time with this series but I want to finish it before the year is over.

When I Fly Towards You (2023): started watching 3 July 2024 (12/24 episodes)
This is my first Chinese drama ever. I was craving something wholesome, cute and romantic. No violence, no mean people. So this was recommended to me by my elder sister who is well versed in the world of C-drama and who knows many shows that are sweet and cute. (She doesn't like to watch series with mean people.) Though this show definitely fulfills my need for cuteness, it has very little to offer plot-wise and therefore is not something I will likely binge-watch. But despite the lack of plot, in terms of lovable characters this certainly hits the mark. The leads Zhou Yiran and Zhang Miaoyi are so cute together. I especially like the way he looks at her. Swoon!

Song of the Bandits (2023):  started watching 5 July 2024 (1/9 episodes)
Chose to watch this with my sister and to chromecast on our biggish screen. It has favourable ratings and reviews online, only 9 episodes, and it stars one of my fave actors, Kim Nam-gil. He's such an intense actor, infuses his characters with depth, and I can watch him forever. The cinematography of the landscape is amazing. You notice right away this series has a big budget, as the art direction and production values are outstanding. But I've only seen one episode so far and I'm not sold yet. And there's a lot of gore and bloodshed which made me avert my eyes more than once. There are also two female characters, one of them a contract killer and the other an independence fighter, and I'm curious whether there will be any romance with our handsome male lead. I'm not rooting for any of the characters yet but I'm hoping there will be some emotional involvement on my part with the main characters soon. Will continue watching one of these days.

Just Between Lovers (2017): started watching 6 July 2024 (3/16 episodes)
Been meaning to watch this show for some time now, as I like the story and it's also a well-rated series. The main couple (Lee Jun-ho and Won Jin-ah) is appealing and I know there will be romance as well. I had to get used to the male lead's reddish hair colour but it doesn't bother me anymore. Since the subject matter deals with trauma and healing (as a result of the disaster of the building collapse), I expect to do my share of crying. Of the four shows I'm watching simultaneously now, this is probably the one I would like to binge-watch the most.
